On Sunday 3rd September, the Canvey Swimming Squad members and CISC helpers had a team building event at the Nuclear Races in Brentwood.
We were greeted with beautiful sunshine, fantastic staff at the Nuclear Races, an awesome obstacle course and LOADS of mud.
The day started with a nice easy warm-up and then straight into the obstacles, whereby we saw the first signs of how muddy the day would get as children started to drop from the tricky climbing wall into the thick, sticky mud below………………………………..Immediately, there were screams……there was worry about getting dirty hair, clothes and nails…….and that was just from the two Coaches, Nathan and Mark.
The kids were lead down the hill towards the lake, whereby the mud got thicker, deeper and stickier. Within the flash of an eye, all kids were monkey climbing across a muddy pond, crawling through a muddy bog, sliding down the death slide into a muddy lake, launching from swings into a great big muddy lake, army crawling through pipes that went through local freshwater streams……..the list of activities goes on.
The squad went from fear of getting muddy, to screaming and jumping into the muddy ponds/lakes and bogs headfirst…….many kids showed they meant business by placing mud war paint on their faces
The whole squad were really well behaved, and many friendships made and developed.
The day concluded with the squad drying off around a nice fire, having a picnic put on by CISC.
WELLDONE to all of the kids for behaving brilliantly, but also for making the day amazing fun.
Thanks to all of those people that helped with the organisation of the event……it was an absolute belter!
