The beginning of the season kicked off to a great start for the Canvey Island Swimming Squad at the Basildon Sporting Village on the 23rd and 24th September.
A healthy sized team with a mix of new and seasoned gala attendees arrived keen to compete to what was a very well organised meet. The squad had full support with Andrea, Amanda and Teri working through the logistics of the event whilst Coaches Paul, Mark and Nathan helped the early season nerves.
The team spirit was raised to a whole new level, with the whole team getting behind each of the swimmers. The noise from the Canvey Team was truly electric. I think purely from a team spirit perspective, Canvey showed everyone else how Galas should be done.
Many great swims and from the team. Andrea put together some great stats of the event as follows:
132 events competed
90 PBs
30 medals (16 Gold, 7 Silver and 7 Bronze)
Well done to newcomers Kahlid, Rehnan and Tilly were attending their first Galas.
Khalid picking up no less than 4 medals at his first ever event!!!!!!
A really great start to the season with some stand out swims from members of the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Squad with too many highlights to list.
With the Mini-League, 1500m swim event and BPSC Autumn County Qualifiers this month, I will be getting my earplugs ready 😉 !!!!!
Well done Canvey, your team spirit made us all really proud.
